The Learning from Workshop I Joined
Assessment in the Early Years
Last Friday and Saturday (13th and 14th February 2015), around 40 teachers from 19 different schools met together for the Job-Alike session in Bina Nusantara International School, Simprug. The session that I facilitated was “Assessment in the Early Years”. As the aim of the session was for sharing, there were ample opportunities for teachers to learn from each other.
We discussed the Early Childhood milestones and Constructivism, before we shared and discussed assessment itself. This is because we, early year teachers need to consider the child’s development before planning.
We had the role-playing sessions where teachers became experts in demonstrating strategies to assess students (adapted from Jo Fahey’s book). The teachers were amazing! And for the final session, we had a gallery walk on school’s portfolios and assessment records.
